Interaction of amino acids, peptides and peptidases in the small intestine

, : Interaction of amino acids, peptides and peptidases in the small intestine. Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, B 190(1099): 149-163

The interaction of amino acids, peptides and peptidases in intestinal absorption was studied with everted segments of rat intestine. beta -Alanine, L- and D-methionine and L-histidine reduced the rate of hydrolysis of glycylglycine and glycyl-L-leucine; L-histidine was the most effective inhibitor. With L-leucylglycine the effects were different, and most amino acids tested caused some stimulation of hydrolysis, except L-histidine which caused inhibition.
