Investigation of methods for determining combining ability in component lines in order to obtain the optimum heterosis effect

, : Investigation of methods for determining combining ability in component lines in order to obtain the optimum heterosis effect. Studium metod pro stanoveni kombinacni schopnosti komponent za ucelem docileni optimalniho heterozniho efektu: 38

Data recorded on 23 characters relating to growth, development and yield of the F1 in two groups of selfed maize lines and their hybrids, over a three-year period, were analysed by one of Griffing's methods Over the whole experiment, general combining ability effects were highly significant in most characters but the significance of specific combining ability effects varied according to the character and the year.
