Isobutylidene diurea for ruminants

, : Isobutylidene diurea for ruminants. Lucrarile Stiintifice ale Institutului de Cercetari pentru Nutritie Animala 6: 25-45

Isobutylidene diurea (IBDU) was given to Brown Romanian bullocks weighing about 300 kg with permanent rumen fistula so that each had 150 g N in the form of IBDU. IBDU was not toxic and the N was used similarly to that from plant protein. The amount of N deposited as protein was for controls 49.8 and for those given IBDU 50.3%; for a group given urea, N deposited as protein was 39.4%. Mean urea in blood for the respective groups was 10, 16.4 to 17.1 and 30.1 to 40.5 mg/100 ml serum.
