Isobutylidene diurea, a new source of NPN for ruminants. 1. Nitrogen balance and plasma amino acid composition in sheep given isobutylidene diurea

, : Isobutylidene diurea, a new source of NPN for ruminants. 1. Nitrogen balance and plasma amino acid composition in sheep given isobutylidene diurea. Archiv fur Tierernahrung 26(11): 747-756

1. Published information on the effects of isobutylidene diurea (IBDU), with 32% N, as a feed additive (NPN source) for ruminants is reviewed, and the results of feeding experiments with rats and sheep are reported. Weanling rats of 53 g were maintained for up to 26 days on a diet containing 6.25% IBDU supplying 2% of N in the diet without any toxic effect.
