Neutral oleaginous foods, e.g. hydrogenated soya bean cooking oils, butter oils, margarine, rapeseed oils and groundnut oils, are flavoured by the incorporation of 1 or more acids selected from butyric, isobutyric, valeric, isovaleric, caproic, capric and caprylic acids, and/or 1 or more of the ethyl or butyl esters of these alpha -carboxy acids.
