Pathological studies on Trichuris ovis infection in sheep

, : Pathological studies on Trichuris ovis infection in sheep. Veterinarnomeditsinski Nauki 14(9): 86-94

Twenty-two weaned and unweaned lambs aged 3-12 months were examined; 14 were naturally infected, and 8 experimentally, with 6 to 25 thousand eggs. Parts of the most severely invaded sections of the caecum and large intestine, with and without visible macroscopic changes, were examined pathologically, and also liver, lungs, heart, spleen and kidneys. During the development of T. ovis and T. skrjabini light to moderate damage is caused to the mucosa of the caecum and large intestine.
