Peasants and class alliances

, : Peasants and class alliances. Review of African Political Economy (3): 10-18

The conditions under which capitalism has penetrated African countries have not produced the kind of capitalist development that occurred in Europe. An analysis is made of the process of differentiation within the peasantry, showing that while some ranks protect their interests by fraternizing with the bureaucracy, the poor peasantry is exploited by both internal and external dominating classes.
