Pelleted bait for control of the black cutworm in corn

, : Pelleted bait for control of the black cutworm in corn. Journal of Economic Entomology 70(6): 699-700

Pelleted bait formulations of 6 insecticides were evaluated in the field in Illinois in 1970-72 for the control of larvae of Agrotis ipsilon (Hfn.) attacking seedling maize. Temephos (Biothion) at 0.34 kg toxicant/ha, fonofos at 1.12 kg, methomyl at 0.17 kg, chlorpyrifos at 0.34 kg, trichlorphon at 1.12 kg and carbaryl at 0.84 kg controlled larvae applied soon after seedling emergence and, under ideal conditions, remained effective for 2-3 weeks.
