Phytotoxin from Septoria nodorum

, : Phytotoxin from Septoria nodorum. Transactions of the British Mycological Society 67(2): 354-358

A phytotoxin purified from cultures of Leptosphaeria nodorum induced the same necrotic symptoms which occur in terminal stages of the disease on wheat in the field, although the effect was completely nonspecific with regard to the degree of resistance or susceptibility of the host. Preparations of the toxin could be stored under acid pH in water at -20 deg C for several weeks but activity was soon lost at high pH (7-8) and within a few h at neutral pH.
