Rayado fino virus of maize: additional studies on the relation between the virus and its insect vector

, : Rayado fino virus of maize: additional studies on the relation between the virus and its insect vector. Turrialba 26(1): 39-43

In further studies in Costa Rica on the relation between the rayado fino virus of maize and its vector Dalbulus maidis (DeLong & Wolc.) (see RAE/A 63, 5110, etc), the leafhopper was able to acquire the virus after an acquisition feed lasting 6 h and to transmit it to healthy plants after an inoculation feed of 8 h. Slightly higher proportions if viruliferous insects were obtained when the acquisition or inoculation feeding periods were extended.
