Red squirrel response to clearcut and shelterwood systems in interior Alaska

, : Red squirrel response to clearcut and shelterwood systems in interior Alaska. USDA Forest Service Research Note, Pacific Northwest Forest and Range Experiment Station (PNW-255): 7

The response of populations of Tamasciurus hudsonicus to clear-felling and shelterwood silvicultural systems in mature Picea glauca forest was determined by counting the population before and after felling. The squirrels abandoned all territories in the clear-felled areas, and the number of squirrels in the shelterwood areas decreased from 1 per 0.69 ha to 1 per 2.0 ha.
