Reduction of Diplostomum infection of rainbow trout fry (Salmo gairdneri) in the Dobbin fish farm

, : Reduction of Diplostomum infection of rainbow trout fry (Salmo gairdneri) in the Dobbin fish farm. Zeitschrift fur die Binnenfishcherei der DDR 22(8): 243-346

Infection with Diplostomum spathaceum causes much damage to the livers of rainbow trout fry (salmo gairdnerii). The main snail hosts of this parasite in the Dobbin fish farm are Lymnaea balthica f. ovata and Planorbarius corneus. Treatment of the ponds with trichlorphon or with chlorkalk (125 g/m2) was not completely successful in controlling the snails and preventing infection.
