Reference LD50 values for some insecticides against the boll weevil

, : Reference LD50 values for some insecticides against the boll weevil. Journal of Economic Entomology 68(2): 189-192

The standard method (topical application) adopted by the Entomological Society of America for determining insecticide resistance in adults of Anthonomus grandis Boh. was employed in laboratory tests in South Carolina during 1968-74 for establishing reference LD50 values (which could be used for detecting changes in susceptibility) for 22 compounds alone or in combination. The average LD50's (after 48 h) ranged from 0.052 mu g/weevil for methyl-parathion to 39.490 mu g for carbaryl.
