Report on the tomato variety and nutrition trial

, : Report on the tomato variety and nutrition trial. Rural Newsletter (55): 4-6

The object of the trial was to investigate the effects of nutrient balance, liming and on the incidence of puffiness in tomatoes. Data on yield, fruit size and quality and the incidence of blossom-end rot were also recorded. Puffiness was not affected by nutrition but its incidence was higher in Grosse Lisse than in Tropic tomatoes. Blossom-end rot was prevalent on unlimed plots. The only significant yield depression occurred in a treatment containing no Ca and also on unlimed plots.
