Research on the effects of temperature and the duration of bulb cold treatment on hyacinth flowering

, : Research on the effects of temperature and the duration of bulb cold treatment on hyacinth flowering. Pepinieristes, Horticulteurs, Maraichers (157): 15-24

Hyacinth bulbs (Ostara strain) were held at ambient temperature or given cold treatment at 1, 3 or 5 deg C for 15, 30, 45 or 60 days before being planted out in the field or under PVC tunnels. Treatment at 1 deg C extended the cultural cycle in proportion to the length of treatment whereas treatment at 3 or 5 deg shortened it in proportion to the length of treatment.
