In a study of promising varieties and hybrids in the Chernovtsy province of the Ukraine during 1968-75, material showing tolerance of or moderate resistance to leaf roll and rugose mosaic was selected, including Mestnyi 13 Detskosel'skii, Belorusskii krakhmalistyi Nemeshaevskii belyi Gatchina and Volzhanin (potato from the Volga).
