The work under review has been conducted since 1970 at the Dresden-Pillnitz Institute for Fruit Research and before then at its predecessor, the Institute for Breeding Research at Muncheberg. The topics covered have included genetical investigations, disease and frost resistance, early selection, intervarietal hybridization and mutation research.
