Results of growing forage legumes in Guadeloupe

, : Results of growing forage legumes in Guadeloupe. Fourrages (65): 91-100

Field trials were conducted with pure stands of 3 different legumes. Stylosanthes guyanensis Schofield, grown in a humid area (rainfall 2800 mm) yielded >21 t DM/ha in 5 cuts. It was difficult to establish, mainly due to weed competition, and difficult to maintain for more than 2 years. Glycine wightii Cooper and Macroptilium atropurpureum were grown in a dry area (rainfall 1400 mm) and yielded from 10.75 to 15.82 t DM/ha in 6 cuts.
