Results of housing cattle without litter

, : Results of housing cattle without litter. Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin 27(7): 265-269

The advantages of housing cattle without litter are discussed on the basis of experience in the German Democratic Republic. Cows kept since 1965 in tie-up sheds without litter (on an experimental farm) had satisfactory milk yields (average 5176 kg 3.5%-FCM in 1970). Experiments comparing milk production, wt. gains, foot health and behaviour of animals under different conditions (different types of slatted floor etc.) are reported.
