Results of hybridization between Nicotiana megalosiphon and N. tabacum

, : Results of hybridization between Nicotiana megalosiphon and N. tabacum. Genetika i Selektsiya 9(4): 274-284

During 1965-74 reciprocal crosses were made between N. megalosiphon (2n = 40) and twelve cultivars. When N. tabacum was the female parent, the fruit set was low; better results were obtained by using the cultivars as the male parent. In the BC1 (N. megalosiphon X N. tabacum) X N. tabacum, cytoplasmically male-sterile forms were obtained which resembled the cultivars morphologically.
