Results of investigations on the process of bunching trees in thinnings

, : Results of investigations on the process of bunching trees in thinnings. Lesnoi Zhurnal (2): 43-47

In the context of skidding bunches of thinnings down rack-ways by winch, theoretical calculations are made to determine several parameters, viz. bunch size to ensure complete utilization of the width of the rack-way, resistance of the bunches to movement, winch power required, and rate of work (in m3/hour). Trials were then made in three stands where the mean diam. of the stems removed was respectively 4, 8 and 12 cm, and the amounts removed were 20, 35 and 50 m3/ha.
