Results of irradiation in chrysanthemums

, : Results of irradiation in chrysanthemums. Byulleten' Gosudarstvennogo Nikitskogo Botanicheskogo Sada (3(28)): 47-52

Rooted cuttings of 16 chrysanthemum cvs were irradiated with gamma -rays from a cobalt (60Co) or cesium (137Cs) source. The cvs were fairly similar to each other in radiation sensitivity, the critical dose being 0.75-2.0 kr and the lethal dose 3 kr. Chimeral plants with altered flower shape and colour appeared in the year of irradiation and in the second and third years. The frequency of chimeras induced by different irradiation doses varied between 1.5 to 35%.
