Results of lime fertilizer trials in NW Germany

, : Results of lime fertilizer trials in NW Germany. Forstarchiv 48(10): 197-199

A discussion of long-term liming experiments started in 1907-1949 on raw humus sites with stands of spruce beech or pine In the first decade after liming the N supply of the soils improved, and the increment of the trees increased. The humus and N contents of the soils later fell, however, and in the second and third decades after liming the increments declined. Liming was more beneficial in heavily thinned stands than in moderately thinned stands of spruce or beech.
