, : Results of matings of Brown Swiss with German Brown cattle. Tierzuchter 28(9): 407-411

Between 1965 and 1976, German Brown (GB) cows were inseminated with 13 872 doses of imported Brown Swiss (BS) semen, and 95 000 inseminations were carried out with semen from 11 imported bulls. There were no calving difficulties. For crossbreds with 50, 37.5, 25 and 12.5% BS blood resp., height at withers averaged 131.5, 130.5, 129.4 and 130.0 cm v 127.9 cm for purebred GBs, and chest circumference averaged 186.7, 188.8, 187.5 and 189.2 cm resp. v 185.9 cm.
