Results of observations on the effects of sulphur gas and fumes on fruit trees, shrubs and anthropods near the factories and sulphur mines in the locality of Tarnobrzeg

, : Results of observations on the effects of sulphur gas and fumes on fruit trees, shrubs and anthropods near the factories and sulphur mines in the locality of Tarnobrzeg. Environmental Pollution 6(1): 67-74

Observations showed that the crops most sensitive to atmospheric pollution by SO2, SO3 and H2SO4 from factories and sulphur mines at Tarnobrzeg in Poland were rye and wheat. Fields of rye at a distance of 500 m from the source of pollution were completely devastated while others situated further away showed some evidence of toxicity symptoms in the form of pale spots on the leaves. In part of another field of rye at 400 m there was marked damage to plant stems.
