Results of pathological-anatomical studies into lung material from bovine influenza

, : Results of pathological-anatomical studies into lung material from bovine influenza. Berliner und Munchener Tierarztliche Wochenschrift 90(21): 414-416

Examinations over six months (January to June) of 1316 samples of lung tissue from cattle suspected of "influenza" showed 1132 (86%) to be positive. Pathological changes due to superinfection included lobular induration with emphysema, mottling consistent with lung infection, and walnut-sized abscesses. In the majority of cases there was alveolar or interstitial emphysema with blood-stained interstitial oedema. In 39 cases there was macroscopic evidence of alveolar putrefaction.
