Results of phenological observations on sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa) on experimental plots at Horne Lefantovice

, : Results of phenological observations on sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa) on experimental plots at Horne Lefantovice. Folia Dendrologica 4: 49-89

Results of 4 years' phenological observations on sweet chestnut in Slovakia have shown that buds grew actively from mid-March to mid-April, leafing out started in mid-April, and flowering in early June was concluded with fruit set. Fruit ripening started in mid-September and finished in early November, i.e. it lasted from 10 to 50 days depending on genetic and ecological factors.
