Results of pollination trials

, : Results of pollination trials. Beekeepers' Bulletin, Australia 19(1): 4-7

Fruit yields from trees (a) open to bees, (b) caged, are tabulated for apples (Yates, Jonathan); pears (Packhams, Winter Nelis); cherries (Moss' Early); peaches (Crawford). In all except Packhams' Triumph pears, results for (a) were very much higher than (b).On pumpkin plants, the set of fruit was closely related to the density of the bees on the crop. Bees were also required for maximum seed set on oilseed crops, but not on lupins.
