Results of polyfactorial experiment spacing, form and variety with apple trees

, : Results of polyfactorial experiment spacing, form and variety with apple trees. Sbornik UVTI, Zahradnictvi 2(3/4): 169-176

The apple cvs James Grieve, Lord Lambourne, Golden Delicious and Jonathan grafted on M.9 rootstocks were trained as free growing cordons, Italian palmettes or Delbard's cordons, and were spaced 3.5 X 0.6 to 1.8 m. During the first 8 bearing years the free cordons spaced 0.6 m in the row produced the highest yields, but later this distance would have to be increased to 1.8 m, to maintain yield and quality.
