In patients infected with Schistosoma mansoni or S. haematobium treated with niridazole at 25 mg/kg body-weight for 7 days there appeared precipitating antibodies, apparently protective. This protection lasted for 90 to 100 days after treatment and this period was extended by intradermal injection of inactivated cercariae. In children infected with S. haematobium and treated and vaccinated the protection lasted for 16 to 21 months.
