Results for 1954-73 are presented of an experiment laid down in 1945 in which a potatoes/winter wheat/sugar beet/spring barley rotation was grown with opt. NPK with or without 20 t FYM/ha applied in alternate yrs. Treatment with FYM increased yields of potatoes by 5 t tubers/ha, sugar beet by 0.6 t sugar and 4.5 t tops/ha and of cereals by 0.2 t grain and 0.3 t straw/ha, and saved f50/rotation on N fertilizer costs.
