Results of research work with hybrid wheat in Bulgaria

, : Results of research work with hybrid wheat in Bulgaria. Selskostopanska Nauka 14(1): 21-24

Several sources of cytoplasmic male sterility, viz. Aegilops triuncialis, Ae. triaristata, Ae. aucheri and Triticum timopheevii, have been used to produce male-sterile lines of the best Bulgarian and foreign bread wheats. These lines have been used to obtain heterotic hybrids which outyield their parents and the standard, Avrora by 10-20%.
