Results of searches for triploid Aspen in Estonia

, : Results of searches for triploid Aspen in Estonia. Lesovedenie (6): 19-26 + 1 pl.

A survey is made of research on triploid Aspen (Populus tremula) in Estonia, where the first triploid Aspens were discovered in 1968. The methods of cytological analysis used are described. Triploid Aspens have been discovered at six places in Estonia, in the form of stands, groups and (in one instance) an individual tree. Mensurational details are given, and also data on the stomatal length and biometric differences of diploid and triploid trees.
