Results of stimulating sexual function in ewes, for early breeding

, : Results of stimulating sexual function in ewes, for early breeding. Revista de Cresterea Animalelor 27(3): 16-23

Data are tabulated summarising experiments carried out during 1971-75, involving 5794 Transylvanian Merino and Spanca females. Ewes were injected 4 times at 3-day intervals with 10-20 mg progesterone followed by 700 IU gonadotropin. Treatment was carried out in June to induce out-of-season lambing, in Aug. to stimulate ovulation in ewe lambs, and in Apr. to induce sexual activity in females that had not conceived the previous autumn.
