BHC residues in 21 specimens of soil in which vegetables had been grown were determined; the maximum, minimum, and average (in parentheses) contents of alpha -, beta -, gamma -, and delta -BCH were 0.010-0(0.001), 0.014-0(0.005), 0.003-(<0.001) and 0.001-0(<0.001), respectively. DDT and organophosphorus pesticide residues could not be detected.
