Results of testing the PF-1 fire-line-maker

, : Results of testing the PF-1 fire-line-maker. Lesnoe Khozyaistvo (8): 69-71

Describes tests of the PF-1, a machine incorporating two rotary cultivators set 570 mm apart, which produces a fire-line of mineral soil having an effective width of 12-14 m. The tests were made on two different Scots Pine forest sites, and details are given of technical characteristics of the work, e.g. dimensions of furrow, range of spoil throw, etc. Data are also given on performance in work on compacted sand, sandy loam, and light clay-loam soils.
