Results of tests with the 'Biomatic' automatic device for bacterial colony counting on Petri dishes

, : Results of tests with the 'Biomatic' automatic device for bacterial colony counting on Petri dishes. Trudy, Vsesoyuznyi Nauchno issledovatel' skii Institut Molochnoi Promyshlennosti (45): 60-63, 85

The 'Biomatic' device (Foss Electric, Denmark) for automatic colony counting on Petri dishes is described and illustrated. Raw and pasteurized milk and 'Malysh' and 'Malyutka' infant foods were used in the tests. Single 'Biomatic' counts were compared with means of 10 replicate counts on the same plate; agreement was within 2%. In 14 comparisons with the visual method, the agreement was within plus or minus 17%.
