Results of the D-xylose and L-arabinose excretion tests in infants and toddlers with morphological damage to the intestinal mucosa of different origin

, : Results of the D-xylose and L-arabinose excretion tests in infants and toddlers with morphological damage to the intestinal mucosa of different origin. Deutsche Gesundheitswesen 32(40): 1902-1905

Tests were made on 81 children, 70 of them under 3 years old, with D-xylose and L-arabinose 0.6 g/kg bodyweight in tea as a 10% solution given usually on consecutive days. Urine was collected for 8 h and small intestine mucosa was studied by biopsy. Of the 6 groups based on mucosa findings, provocative or specific diet and diagnosis, 1 had no intestinal disorder.
