Data were recorded on the development of Abies alba seedlings up to five years old, which represented 138 Czechoslovakian provenances, and it was concluded that the species possesses poor adaptability, thus rendering careful selection imperative for the provision of planting material well suited to local ecological conditions. Considerable variability existed in rates of growth and in drought resistance. Height differentiation was well established by the fifth year.Other references
