Results of thirteen years' observations of cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha L.) swarming on the territory of Czechoslovakia

, : Results of thirteen years' observations of cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha L.) swarming on the territory of Czechoslovakia. Sbornik UVTI Ochrana Rostlin 11(4): 283-294

Studies in 1956-68 on the distribution and frequency of outbreaks of Melolontha melolontha (L.) in Czechoslovakia, where this cockchafer causes serious damage to forest and fruit trees, showed that populations with both 3-year and 4-year cycles were present. The speed of development was found to depend on air temperatures during the growing season (April-September).
