In hop gardens on heavy soils the interrows were cultivated in the autumn: (1) annually to a depth of 10-15 cm (control), (2) once in 3 years to a depth of 30-35 cm, (3) once in 3 years to a depth of 30-35 cm on one side of the row and annually to 10-15 cm on the other side, (4) twice in 3 years to 55-60 cm on both sides, and (5) once in 3 years to 55-60 cm on one side and annually to 10-15 cm on the other.
