8 sainfoin were grown for 4 yr in trials near Skopje. The Russian Severokavkazskaya gave the highest annual yields, 38.9 t fresh herbage/ha, followed by Armenskaya Mestnaya (the tallest cv., 35.17 t/ha) and Lyulinetskaya Mestnaya (33.43 t/ha); local lucerne was worst (28.89 t/ha).
