A brief outline is given of recent breeding work in the USSR with French bean, pea, soya bean, lentil, chickpea, vetch, broad bean, lupin, Vigna and Lathyrus. Mention is made of useful breeding material, including chickpeas resistant to Ascochyta, e.g. K279, K368, K199, K400 and K863, lupins relatively resistant to mosaic virus, e.g. K1154, K1556 and K1560, and French beans relatively resistant to Pseudomonas phaseolicola, e.g.
