Results to date of chemical defoliation of vines to facilitate harvesting

, : Results to date of chemical defoliation of vines to facilitate harvesting. Mitteilungen Rebe und Wein, Obstbau und Fruchteverwertung 25(4): 253-264

Three Cynamid (calcium cyanamide) preparations (Cy L 500, Cy L 415 and Cy 2 615) were compared for leaf removal prior to harvest in a series of trials on trellis-grown and high-trained vines. With trellised vines it was possible to time defoliant spraying to avoid berry damage and no reduction in yield was observed. Overhanging foliage on high-trained vines prevented selective spraying.
