F1 plants resembling Brassica juncea (2n = 36) in morphology, but most of them sterile, were obtained by pollinating turnip rape, pe-tsai (B. pekinensis), sarson and toria (all having 2n = 20) with B. nigra (2n = 16). In the reciprocals, no such plants were obtained. The highest percentage of hybrid plants (0.65%) was obtained from sarson X B. nigra.
