A survey of food shops was carried out by 11 European Nielsen associates in 1974/75 as their first standardized primary market research in the trade. Some 5,000 owners or managers of food shops in Belgium, GFR, France, GB, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Spain and Switzerland were questioned. The selling points for 70-90% of domestic demand for certain branded articles were covered.
