Reticulocyte response and maturation in experimental acute blood loss anemia in the cat

, : Reticulocyte response and maturation in experimental acute blood loss anemia in the cat. Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association 14(2): 219-224

Heavily reticulated (type III), moderately reticulated (type II), and lightly reticulated (type I) reticulocytes were measured after removal of 15%, 30%, and 45% blood volume in cats. There was essentially no difference between the levels of types II and III which were seen from 2 to 12 days after blood loss, regardless of volume withdrawn. The type I reticulocyte more nearly paralleled the return of the PCV to normal than did types II and III.
