Retinal lattice, visual field and binocularities in flies

, : Retinal lattice, visual field and binocularities in flies. Journal of Comparative Physiology, A 119(3): 207-220

The arrangements of ommatidia were charted and the visual fields of the compound eyes were plotted for both males and females of Musca domestica L., Calliphora vicina R.-D. (erythrocephala (Mg.)), Stomoxys calcitrans (L.), Syritta pipiens (L.) and the lesser house-fly (referred to by the authors as Fannia fannia L., but which is presumably F. canicularis (L.)). At the level of the retina, remarkable differences exist between different species and between the sexes of one species.
