Retrograde amnesia in honeybees (Apis mellifera carnica)

, : Retrograde amnesia in honeybees (Apis mellifera carnica). Journal of Comparative and Physiological Psychology 90(1): 41-46

After a single reward on a training colour, freely flying honeybees showed retrograde amnesia when an electroconvulsive shock, CO2-anaesthesia, N2-anaesthesia, or cooling to 1 deg C was applied after learning. Retrograde amnesia was measurable with these treatments up to 7 min after the reward. For none of the treatments was a consistent relationship found between the reaction tested and the time of testing after the treatment.
