Revalidation and redescription of Plasmodium columbae Carini, 1912

, : Revalidation and redescription of Plasmodium columbae Carini, 1912. Boletin de la Direccion de Malariologia y Saneamiento Ambiental 16(2): 93-106

A malaria parasite has been discovered in Columba livia domestica in several places in Venezuela. It corresponds morphologically to Plasmodium columbae, described by Carini (1912) in Brazil, but recently denied species-status by several authorities. This parasite is now redescribed and revalidated as a separate species.
